ARTIST BIO

I am a painter and printmaker, writer and educator living and working in Otautahi Christchurch, in the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.  Of pakeha and colonial descent, I grew up in Tairawhiti Gisborne and my work shows signs of my Eastcoast experiences of hot sunshine, rivers and beaches.

My work seeks to reframe our relationship with the natural world so that we see the ordinary as beautiful and meaningful, to challenge our engagement with the physical environment in terms of geopoetical ideas.

Working in a range of mediums allows me to incorporate the diverse interests developed from my BFA(Hons) degree in Painting and BA in Literature; my work is haptic and experimental in terms of process, veering towards abstract in practice.
